Now, I’m excited to share that beautiful experience and some insider tips only locals know!
Spring’s Grand Finale Unfolds in Samcheok Maengbang
Every April, the area around Sangmaengbang-ri, Geundeok-myeon, Samcheok-si, transforms into a colossal painting blanketed in yellow canola flowers. This year, the 2026 Samcheok Maengbang Canola Flower Festival ran for 17 days, from April 3rd to April 19th . When I visited, the canola flowers were in full bloom, and to my delight, the cherry blossoms were also at their peak, creating a true’spring gift set.’ The harmony of yellow canola flowers, pink cherry blossoms, and the blue East Sea was truly an unforgettable spectacle.

You can feel it just by looking at the picture, right? Walking through those vast canola fields, the sweet scent of flowers tickled my nose, and the sight of the canola flowers dancing in the gentle spring breeze was like a living work of art. The cherry blossom-lined road along National Road 7 was also perfect for a scenic drive. As I drove with the windows down, cherry blossom petals fluttered around, making me feel like a character in a movie.
